All-Star Robinson Pina gave Burlington 6 strong innings, and a 2-1 lead before bowing to relief help after 85 pitches, but for the second day in a row the Bees bullpen could not hold it, and the Lake County Captains came out on top 5-2.

Justin Jones doubled home Harrison Wenson in the home third. Jones is batting .364 in his last 10 games, and has been on base in six straight.

Jordyn Adams was 3-4 on night with his fifth home run of the season, and a walk.

Varela, a 2019 free agent signee out of Long Island University, making his first full season appearance, got through the seventh with a strikeout, double ground ball out, fly out.

He walked the first two batters he faced, and manager Jack Howell went to the pen again. Mayky Perez allowed those walks to score, plus two more, giving Lake County the final 5-2 lead.

The series ends Monday night. Burlington is off Tuesday then travels to the Eastern Division to face Lansing and Great lakes.
