Bees Shutout in Season Finale

McDonnell, Fecteau each pick up two hits in loss

(Burlington, IA) - The Burlngton Bees (60-79) finished the 2017 season with a 1-0 loss to the Clinton LumberKings (64-73) on Monday afternoon at Community Field. 

Gareth Morgan kicked off the final game of the 2017 season by driving a single down the left-field line. Morgan then stole second base, advancing to third on a throwing error. With one out in the inning, Nick Zammarelli singled to right, scoring Morgan, giving the LumberKings a 1-0 lead. 

The Bees were unable to find the scoreboard on Monday afternoon. The best chance the Bees had was in the eighth inning. With two outs, Julian Leon reached on an infield single and then moved to third on a Richie Fecteau single. Michael Koval was able to strike out Brandon Sandoval as the LumberKings held on to their 1-0 lead for a season ending win over the Bees.

Clinton starter Nick Wells (6-10) threw six shutout innings, earning the win while Bees' starter Andrew Vinson (6-11) was charged with the loss. Seth Elledge (5) picked up the save. The Bees will open the 2018 season at home against the Peoria Chiefs on April 5th.
