Bees Shutout Timber Rattlers, 4-0....Again

Kelly throws five scoreless in debut

(Burlington, IA) - The Burlington Bees (28-36) completed a doubleheader sweep of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (26-37) with another 4-0 win at Community Field on Tuesday night.

The Bees used another two-run inning to build their lead. Derek Jenkins opened the third inning with an infield single. Jahmai Jones gave the Bees a 2-0 lead, swatting a line drive home run over the right field wall, his fifth of the season. 

Julian Leon started the fourth inning with a double to right field. With one out, Brennan Morgan reached on a strikeout, wild pitch, and advanced when the throw went into right field, putting runners at second and third. Roberto Baldoquin then upped the Bees' lead with a groundout scoring Leon, making the score 3-0.

The Bees went on to add one more run on a Brennan Morgan sacrifice fly in the sixth, putting the Bees in front 4-0. Bees' starter Justin Kelly (1-0) threw five shutout innings, earning the win. Cameron Roegner (4-2) was charged with the loss and Sean Isaac (3) picked up the save. 

The Bees and Timber Rattlers will finish the series with a doubleheader on Thursday night, starting at 5:00 p.m., at Community Field. NOTES: The Bees have now won a season-high five straight games. With the shutout, the Bees have now recorded four shutouts this season, three coming in the last four days. Sam McDonnell has now hit safely in 12 games.
