(Davenport, IA) - The Burlington Bees (11-24) lost their sixth game in a row, losing to the Quad Cities River Bandits (19-18) 6-3 on Wednesday night at Modern Woodman Park.
Quad Cities opened the scoring in the first inning. With two outs, the River Bandits put together four straight hits, taking a lead on a Ray Henderson RBI single. The inning was capped off by a Carmen Benedetti double, scoring Marcos Almonte, extending the River Bandits' lead to 2-0.
Jordan Zimmerman led off the second inning with a double to left. After a strikeout, John Schuknecht knocked a single to center, putting runners at the corners. Roberto Baldoquin singled to center, scoring Schuknecht, cutting the deficit to 2-1.
Quad Cities started the fourth inning with three straight hits. With the bases loaded, Taylor Jones hit a line drive to center that was dropped, scoring Ray Henderson, upping the lead to 3-1. After a rain delay, Quad Cities scored three more runs, extending their lead to 6-1.
Juan Moreno doubled to right with one out in the top of the fifth inning. After Moreno stole third, Brennon Lund reached on an infield single, scoring Moreno, cutting Quad Cities' lead to 6-2. Roberto Baldoquin singled with one out in the seventh inning and stole second base, reaching third on an error. Juan Moreno hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Baldoquin, making the score 6-3.
Ciomel Perez (2-2) earned the win while Erik Manoah (0-2) was charged with the loss while Erasmo Pinales (2) picked up the save. The Bees' road trip continues on Thursday night in Clinton against the Clinton LumberKings at 6:30 p.m. Nate Bertness makes the start for the Bees against Danny Garcia for the LumberKings.
