BURLINGTON, NC - The Burlington Royals (16-33) defeated the Pulaski Yankees (24-27) by a score of 6-4 on Saturday night in the final contest of a three-game series.
The Yankees scored the first run of the night, in the top of the third inning, and held a 1-0 lead until the fourth.
In the bottom of the fourth, Freddy Fermin delivered an RBI single to tie the game at 1-1. The next batter was Jackson Lueck, who blasted a three-run home run to put the Royals ahead 4-1.
Burlington added runs in the sixth and eighth innings to go on top 6-1. Pulaski did score two runs in the ninth, but Jose De Leon secured the save and the 6-3 win.
The Royals will hit the road Sunday to begin a series with the Princeton Rays. Burlington will begin its next home stand on Thursday.
The Burlington Royals are the Appalachian League affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.
