As we see Salvador Perez go onto the new Injury List (IL) we will have the chance to hopefully watch former Burlington Royal, Meibrys Viloria. Viloria was in Burlington in 2014 and 2015. During his 2015 season, he had 39 singles, and hit .260. Viloria went to Idaho Falls in 2016, in Idaho where he hit an astronomical .376 and had an on-base percentage of .436. He had 85 hits in 58 games. He also was able to record 28 doubles, having almost one every other game.
Viloria had the opportunity to play 10 games in Kansas City last season. Becoming the 21st Colombian and 4th Colombian catcher to play in the Major Leagues. He arrived to Kansas City at 21 years-old in September because of a Salvador Perez thumb sprain in his left hand. Hitting .259 with seven hits and two doubles in his short stint. He went on to play in the prospect filled Arizona Fall League. In Arizona, he had an on-base percentage of .425. He faces competition from recently signed Martin Maldonado for a spot on the Big-League roster.
