Salvador "Salvy" Perez, former 2008 Burlington Royals' player, has been at the forefront for all defensive catchers in Major League Baseball. Perez has five American League Gold Glove Awards, two American League Silver Slugger Awards, and six All-Star Appearances in eight seasons with the Kansas City Royals. When the Kansas City Royals won the World Series in 2015, Perez was named Most Valueable Player of the Series.
Perez spent thirteen games in Burlington in 2008, hitting .325, and getting on base, .404 in forty-nine plate appearances. He had twelve singles and a triple in thirteen hits with the team. He played ten games in the field, playing nine games behind the dish, and one game at second base, where he made two putouts. In 2008, Salvy was already the vocal leader of the team, he was slated to get the most apperances behind the plate, before he moved to Idaho Falls. In his first game with the Burlington Royals, he had a RBI triple in the seventh, to bring the Royals within one run of the Danville Braves, before then closer Cody Railsack, closed the door on the Royals.
