BURLINGTON, NC - The Pulaski Yankees (24-26) clinched a series victory over the Burlington Royals (15-33) on Friday night.
Pulaski scored the first run of the game, but the Royals took the lead in the second, scoring three times. Juan Carlos Negret scored on an error, Freddy Fermin came across on a wild pitch and Jose Marquez tallied the third run of the inning on a Bhret Bewley sacrifice fly.
From that point on, the Yankees scored the next eight runs to take a 9-3 advantage.
Burlington did score twice in the ninth inning, on a triple from Marquez and RBI groundout from Bewley, but fell 9-5.
The third and final game of the series will be Saturday night at Burlington Athletic Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
The Burlington Royals are the Appalachian League affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.
