Canadians Announce 2014 Coaching Staff

January 13, 2014

(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, B.C.) - When the curtain lifts on the 2014 season for the Vancouver Canadians, a new manager will be at the helm. John Schneider has been assigned to Vancouver for the upcoming season and will be accompanied by Hitting Coach Dave Pano and Pitching Coach Jeff Ware.

Most recently, John Schneider has managed in Florida for the past two seasons with the Gulf Coast Blue Jays where he worked with many of the players that eventually found their way to Vancouver to help claim Northwest League Championships.

A well-respected catcher within the Blue Jays organization, this will mark Schneider's sixth season as a manager since retiring as a player in 2008.

Hitting Coach Dave Pano returns for a fourth consecutive season and is the only hitting coach in franchise history to help the Canadians to three consecutive titles. Pano has worked with some of the top Blue Jays prospects over the past six seasons including Kevin Pillar who broke through onto Toronto's roster in 2013.

Vancouver welcomes Pitching Coach Jeff Ware to the staff this season as the former Major League 1st round selection (1991) will help guide the Canadians arms toward success in 2014. Prior to joining the Blue Jays organization, Ware was Pitching Coach with the Tampa Yankees of the Florida State League.

The Canadians will welcome back both Reggie Mungrue (Trainer) and Jeremy Trach (Strength & Conditioning) for a second straight season. Mungrue was named NWL Trainer of the Year in 2013.
