(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, B.C.) - On the 20th anniversary of his historic World Series home run, the Vancouver Canadians are proud to welcome former Toronto Blue Jays great Joe Carter out to Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium on Tuesday, August 20th at 7:05pm presented by The BC Sports Hall of Fame and Blakes.
Carter played for six teams over his 16-year career including the Cubs, Indians, Padres, Orioles and Giants - but ask any fan of baseball north of the 49th parallel and you'll have a hard time finding anyone who would remember the hard hitting outfielder as the Blue Jays slugger who helped Toronto to back-to-back World Series Championships (1992-93).
Carter's signature moment in a Blue Jays uniform came in 1993 in Game Six of the World Series when he hit a 2-2 pitch delivered from Mitch Williams over the left field fence at Skydome to help Toronto defend its title.
Carter joins Larry Walker (Aug 13), Ernie Whitt (Aug 14), Tim Raines (July 11) and Rollie Fingers (July 3) to make up the list of those taking part in the 2013 Superstar Series presented by The BC Sports Hall of Fame.
The Vancouver Canadians also unveiled the entire 2013 Promotional Schedule late Thursday night showcasing a number of family-friendly and exciting moments out at Scotiabank Field this summer. On the schedule for the upcoming season there are nine (9) Fireworks Extravaganza's including Opening Night (June 17) and Canada Day (July 1).
For those looking to soak up some of our summer sunshine, the Canadians have set aside six (6) BC Hydro Power Smart 'Nooners at The Nat along with six A&W Family Fun Sundays with all day games starting at 1:05pm.
Gate giveaways will welcome fans out to Scotiabank Field on a majority of home dates for the Canadians and this year there are a number of unique items.
