Mitch Nay named NWL Top Playoff Performer

(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, B.C.) - The Vancouver Canadians are proud to announce that DH Mitch Nay has been named Most Valuable Player of the 2013 Northwest League Post-Season as selected by MiLB.com.

Nay, 19, went 8-for-21 with a home run and four RBI in five games for the Canadians who went on to win a third consecutive NWL title after a 2-games-to-1 series victory over the Boise Hawks.

The native of Chandler, AZ joined Vancouver on September 3rd, 2013 just in time for the Game 1 of the NWL North Division Final against Everett after playing in 64 games with Bluefield of the Appalachian League. With the Bluefield Blue Jays, Nay hit .300 (69-for-230) with six home runs and 42 RBI. He would also strike out just 35 times in 258 plate appearances.

Selected in the 1st round (58th overall) in the 2012 MLB First Year Player Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays, Nay was named the Arizona Baseball Player of the Year (2011) after hitting .380 with 11 home runs and 31 RBI prior to being named a First-Team All-State selection based on votes from the Arizona Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).
