Bandits Rob Captains 7-4

(Eastlake, OH) - Quad Cities (16-13) scored four times in the sixth inning and defeated the Captains (15-15) by a final of 7-4. Roberto Pena and Brian Blasik walked to begin the sixth and Jordan Scott, who had five RBI's, singled them both home. Scott scored on the seventh homerun of the season by Carlos Correa. The score at the time was 7-3. The Captains got one run back but fell 7-4.

Lake County scored first. Joe Sever unloaded his sixth homerun of the season to deep left field and the score was 1-0. Later in the inning, with the bases loaded Yhoxian Medina hit a sac fly to right field and Erik Gonzalez scored to make the score 2-0.

In the fourth inning, Quad Cities took the lead. The bases were loaded with two outs and Jordan Scott was the hitter. Scott lifted a fly ball to deep right field that clanked off the right field wall and ended up as a triple. All three base runners scored and the River Bandits led 3-2. The Captains tied the ballgame in the bottom half of the fourth inning when Eric Haase walked and eventually scored on a single from Todd Hankins. The score was knotted at 3-3 after four innings.

The Captains trailed 7-3 headed to the ninth inning, and did tack on one run. Erik Gonzalez tripled home Joe Sever who singled to cut the gap to three runs. The score was 7-4, That was the final score.

RHP Dylan Baker (6-5) started the game for Lake County and pitched five innings and did not get a decision. Baker allowed four hits, three earned runs six walks and three strikeouts. RHP Jack Wagoner (2-5) took the loss. He pitched one inning, and allowed two hits, four earned runs, two walks, and one strikeout. D.J. Brown pitched three innings, and allowed one hit, two strikeouts and did not walk a batter.

Quad Cities sent LHP Colton Cain (4-5) to the mound to start the game. Cain did not get the decision. Cain pitched four innings and allowed three earned runs on six hits, he walked three and struck out three. Daniel Minor (7-1) earned the win. He pitched two innings and allowed one hit, one walk and three strikeouts. The rest of the bullpen allowed one run in three innings of relief.

The Captains will enjoy an off day on Tuesday and will be back in action on Wednesday Night in South Bend, IN. The Captains will start RHP Luis Dejesus (3-10, 6.41) and South Bend will counter with RHP Kyle Winkler (2-2, 4.02).
