Bees Beat Captains 6-1

(Eastlake, OH)- Anthony Bemboom belted his first homerun of the season, a two run homer in the second inning, and the Burlington Bees defeated the Lake County Captains by a final of 6-1 on Saturday afternoon. The Bees won the three game series. The Captains played 12 games against the Western division so far on the season, and the Captains interdivision record is 2-10.

The Bees (9-6) led 2-0 after the homer and added on in the fourth inning, with two outs and two on Mark Shannon laced a two run double to right center field and the lead was doubled to 4-0. With one out and runners at second and third base in the top of the fifth inning, Eric Aguilera hit a sacrifice fly to center field and the score was 5-0. The next batter, Angel Rosa doubled home a run and it was 6-0 Bees headed to the bottom of the fifth.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Captains (5-11) got on the board. Josh McAdams walked to begin the frame. McAdams promptly stole second base. McAdams scored on an RBI single by Clint Frazier and the score was 6-1. Frazier the 2013 1st round draft pick (5th overall) of the Indians has a hit and a RBI in all three games he has played with the Captains this season.

LHP Luis Lugo (0-3) started game two for the Captains and took the loss. Lugo pitched four and two thirds innings and allowed five hits, six runs, four runs were earned, one walk and six strikeouts. Robbie Aviles entered in relief pitched scoreless baseball for four and one third innings. Aviles allowed four hits, and he struck out three.

RHP Garrett Nuss (1-0) started for the Bees and earned the win. Nuss pitched five innings and allowed five hits, one earned run, three walks and he fanned three. Ben Carlson pitched two innings of scoreless relief and walked two hitters while striking out three. Michael Smith pitched one inning and struck out the side. Alan Busenitz pitched a scoreless ninth. The Bees bullpen did not allow a hit in relief.

The Captains will hit the road to Lansing, MI on Monday morning to take on Lansing Lugnuts in game one in a four game series. The Captains will start RHP Dace Kime (0-3, 13.06) and Lansing will counter with RHP Alberto Tirado (0-0, 3.38). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM from Cooley Law School Stadium.
