Captains Return Home for a Six-Game Home Stand vs.the West

(Eastlake, OH) - The Lake County Captains, class A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, will begin a six-game home stand tomorrow as the Cedar Rapids Kernels (Twins) and the Quad Cities River Bandits (Astros) make their only regular season appearances at Classic Park for the next two seasons.

The home stand begins with a special buy two, get two special on hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, grilled chicken sandwiches, French fries, onion rings, nachos and popcorn. This new food promotion is offered during every Wednesday night game throughout the season. Wednesday's game time is 7 PM.

Thursday night is Thirsty Thursday, presented by ESPN 850 WKNR, featuring a 25-cent beer Happy Hour for one hour before game time and half-price draft beer and fountain soda until 9 PM. A wing and pizza buffet will also be available outside the Corona Castaways Bar, featuring Happy Moose Bar and Grill wing sauces and pizza from Cleveland Pizza Company. Game time is 7 PM.  

There will also be a special post-game concert on Thursday featuring Festivus, a local band that plays 80's Disco and R&B and 80's favorites, featuring chart toppers from Shania Twain to Santana. They will perform on stage adjacent to Castaways Bar, which will remain open throughout the show. 

Friday is a Fireworks Friday Night, and there will be a post-game fireworks extravaganza presented by Universal Windows Direct. The game is also the annual Italian Heritage Night and the Captains will feature traditional Italian fare for sale, including Cavatelli, Italian Sausage and Connolis. There will be a pre-game bocce ball tournament and the Italian National Anthem will be sung prior to the game. The Captains will wear Italian soccer themed jerseys for the 7 PM game and fans will have the opportunity to bid on the jerseys and take them off the player's backs during a post-game on-field presentation. The Captains Friday Night Concert Series continues with Driven, a powerful, high energy eight-piece band featuring a dynamic lead vocalist and powerful horn section. They will perform on stage adjacent to Castaways Bar, following the fireworks show. 

Saturday is a 7 PM start time and will kick-off Christmas in July Weekend and the game will be followed by a Saturday Night Fireworks Extravaganza presented by Monreal Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

On Saturday and Sunday, Classic Park will be decorated for Christmas, complete with a special visit by Santa Claus. Fans will also be able to enjoy a very limited supply of Great Lakes Christmas Ale. The first 1,500 fans for Saturday's game will receive a bobble doll featuring Skipper dressed in the "Puffy Coat" presented by Lake Health. The giveaway is the fourth in the series of "A Captains Story" Bobbles as the team pays homage to The Christmas Story house located in Cleveland.

Sunday is a special 7 PM start and is a Family Fun Sunday, presented by the Lake County YMCA, featuring a pre-game player autograph session, concourse entertainment and activities, the Kids' Zone area and the opportunity for kids to run the bases after the game. All kids in attendance will receive a Captains activities book and crayons, presented by the YMCA and Lake County Job and Family Services.

The Captains annual Pre-Game Mass will be on Sunday as part of another Faith Night presented by 95.5 the FISH.  Pro Football Hall of Fame Wide Receiver Paul Warfield will be in attendance and will sign autographs prior to the game for fans on the concourse. He will be recognized on the field during pre-game ceremonies when he will throw out a ceremonial first pitch. Following the post-game fireworks show, Warfield will give a talk and answer questions for fans in attendance.

Sunday will feature the first of two Fireworks Sunday Nights presented by Drug Mart. Fans will be treated to a post-game fireworks extravaganza on this night as well as Sunday, August 4.

The first 1,500 fans in attendance on Sunday will receive a Captains Alternate Logo Wall Decal presented by Bod Shotz by Bruce and Bruce Custom Graphics.  

The home stand concludes on Monday with a special 11 AM start in which several local summer camps will be in attendance.
