Captains Smack 5 HR and Win 11-3

(Dayton, OH) - Eric Haase hit two homeruns and overall, the Captains (1-0) swatted five long balls on the night en route to the 11-3 win over Dayton (0-1). Lake County hit three homers and scored five runs in the second inning. In the frame, Haase belted his first homerun to lead off the frame, then Erik Gonzalez hit a three run bomb and Logan Vick hit a solo shot as the Captains took control of the game by a score of 6-0 aftr two innings.

Lake County scored first, in the opening inning, Logan Vick doubled home Dorssys Paulino and the score was 1-0. In the third, after the five run second, Lake County added on. Anthony Santander singled and scored on a base hit from Jeremy Lucas. Later in the inning, Haase scored on a groundball double play and the score was 8-0.

Dorssys Paulino hit his second HR of the season in the sixth inning and the score was 9-0 Captains. In the bottom of the seventh, Dayton broke up the shutout. Jesse Winker singled and moved to third on an error. The error allowed Arias to get to second. Tanner Rahier singled home both runners and the score was 9-2 Captains.

In the ninth, Eric Haase hit a two run homer and gave the Captains an 11-2 lead. Haase is the first Captains player to hit two homers in one game this season. Haase has hit a homerun in three consecutive games, which is the longest HR streak of the season for the Captains. Dayton got a homerun from Junior Arias and the score was 11-3. That was the final.

Dylan Baker (3-5) started and got the win for the Captains. Baker allowed five hits and two un-earned runs in seven innings pitched. Baker fanned six. Benny Suarez pitched one scoreless inning and D.J. Brown pitched the ninth and only allowed the HR to Arias.

Nick Travieso (1-2) started and took the loss for Dayton. Travieso pitched just two innings and allowed eight hits, and six earned runs. He walked one and fanned three. Three Dayton pitchers combined for seven innings of relief and allowed five runs.

Lake County will remain on the road and in Dayton for game two of the three game series on Friday night. The Captains will start RHP Luis Dejesus (1-7,6.38) and the Dragons will counter with Jackson Stephens (0-0,0.00) who will be making his first start of the season. First pitch is at 7:07 PM in Dayton, Ohio.
