Captains Snap Eight Game Skid with 2-1 Win

(Eastlake, OH)- Trevor Frank pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn his tenth save of the season and the Captains beat Wisconsin 2-1 on Friday night. In the ninth Frank allowed two hits and had runners at the corners with one out but struck out the final two hitters to preserve the win. In all, Frank struck out three, or the side in his one inning. With the win the Captains snapped their eight game losing streak.

Wisconsin took the early lead in the first inning. With one out, and Chris McFarland on second base a wild pitch sailed to the backstop and McFarland advanced to third base. Michael Ratterree inked his 57th run batted in on a groundout to shortstop and the score was 1-0 Timber Rattlers.

Lake County tied the game in the bottom of the third inning. Grant Fink singled and advanced to third on a two-base error and scored on a wild pitch to even the game at 1-1. The Captains took the lead on the 17th home run of the season for Nellie Rodriguez. The solo shot made it a 2-1 game.

RHP Mitch Brown (3-8) started the game for the Captains. Brown pitched six and one third innings and allowed one earned run on three hits. Brown walked two and struck out seven. Mitch Brown earned the win. Jimmy Stokes entered in relief and pitched two shutout innings. Stokes allowed one hit and struck out one.

RHP Zach Quintana (3-5) started for Wisconsin. Quintana pitched four innings and allowed two hits, two runs and one earned run. Quintana walked two and fanned five. Quintana allowed the one homerun to Rodriguez and took the loss. Wisconsin used two pitchers out of the bullpen the pen and pitched four scoreless innings of relief.

The Captains will continue a six game home stand on Saturday. The Beloit Snappers are in town. The Captains will start RHP Jordan Milbrath (3-10, 3.38) and the Snappers will counter with RHP Kyle Finnegan (6-7, 3.29). First Pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM from Classic Park in Eastlake, OH.

Saturday is a Fireworks Saturday Night presented by Monreal Funeral Home & Cremation Services once again featuring a Christmas music soundtrack.

The first 1,000 kids 12 and under will receive a Captains Youth Replica Jersey presented by Stanley Steemer.   

The Captains will wear Ugly Christmas Sweater-themed jerseys and fans will have the opportunity to bid on the jerseys and take them off the player's backs during a post-game on-field presentation. All jersey auction proceeds benefit Captains Charities
