Captains Sweep the DH from Kane County

(Eastlake, OH) - The Lake County Captains swept the double header from the Kane County Cougars on Monday Night at Classic Park. Lake County scored five in the bottom of the seventh of game one to be walk off winners 7-6. In game two the Captains came from behind again and won 4-2.

The Captains erased a 6-2 deficit in the seventh inning of game one. Leonardo Castillo hit a three run homer to the bleachers in left field and that made the score 6-5. Later Logan Vick hit an opposite field double to tie the game and Jeremy Lucas singled home the winning run as Lake County plated five runs in the bottom of the frame. The final was 7-6.

In Game two, The Captains came from behind again. Lake County was trailing 2-1 headed to the bottom of the fifth inning. When, Joe Sever smacked a two run double down the right field line and capped a three run inning. The double put the Captains ahead for good. The Final was 4-2 Lake County

The Captains started RHP Luis Dejesus (0-2) in Game One. Dejesus did not get a decision. Luis pitched four innings, allowing four hits, five earned runs, five walks and three strikeouts. Dejesus allowed two homers. Francisco Valera pitched two innings and allowed two hits, one earned run and three strikeouts. Jack Wagoner (2-0) returned to the Captains and struck out two in an inning of work. Wagoner got the win.

RHP Felix Pena (0-0) started for the Cougars but did not get a decision. Pena pitched six innings, and allowed five hits, two earned runs and three strikeouts. Matt Iannazzo (0-1) took the loss. He came on in the seventh and allowed two hits, two walks and couldn't get the final out.

In Game two the Captains started Luis Morel (1-1). Morel did not get a decision. The win went to Josh Martin. Martin (2-2) pitched two and two thirds innings of scoreless and hitless baseball. Martin walked one and struck out two. Louis Head pitched a scoreless seventh to earn his first save of the season. LHP Michael Heesch (0-2) started the game for Kane County and took the loss.

The Captains will remain home on Tuesday and wrap up the home stand. The Captains will send LHP Ryan Merritt (1-2, 3.05) and RHP Lendy Castillo (0-1, 6.60) will get the ball for Kane County. Game time is scheduled for 6:30 PM
