Clinton Sneaks Past Captains 5-4

(Eastlake, OH) - The Clinton LumberKings took advantage of two ninth inning errors and defeated the Lake County Captains by a final of 5-4. The Captains (6-15) have committed 38 errors on the season. Clinton (9-10) has won the first two games of the series.

Clinton took an early lead after a half of an inning. Jabari Henry led off the game by reaching on an error. Patrick Kivelehan singled to right. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch. Gaby Guerrero tripled to centerfield and both Henry and Kivelehan scored. Dario Pizzano singled home Guerrero and it was a 3-0 LumberKings lead.

Lake County tied the game in the bottom of the fifth inning. Erik Gonzalez led off the inning with a single to center. A one out walk to Leonardo Castillo put two runners on base. Logan Vick singled home Gonzalez and Castillo motored to third base. Logan Vick stole second base to put the tying run in scoring position. The score was 3-2 when Luigi Rodriguez singled up the middle and Castillo scored. Logan Vick scored on a ground out to second base by Dorssys Paulino. The score was even at 3-3.

Lake County took the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning on a wild pitch. The score was 4-3 Lake County headed to the ninth.

The Captains sent RHP Jake Sisco to the hill for the start. Sisco (0-2) did not get a decision. Jake went five innings and allowed five hits, three runs, two earned runs, two walks and he struck out one. Nick Pasquale, pitched three shutout innings of relief. Francisco Valera (0-1) pitched the ninth inning and he allowed two unearned runs. Valera took the loss.

Clinton started the LHP Tyler Pike (0-0). Pike pitched five and two thirds innings, allowing six hits, three earned runs and one walk. Pike did not get a decision and struck out six. The Bullpen for Clinton allowed just one run in relief. The win went to Richard White (1-0) and the save went to Grady Wood. It was Wood's 3rd save of the season.

The Captains will remain home on Saturday Afternoon to take on the Clinton LumberKings. Clinton will be making their only trip to Classic Park in two seasons. The Captains will start RHP Dylan Baker (0-2, 4.20) and Clinton will counter with RHP Matt Anderson (0-2, 7.50).
