(Eastlake, OH) - The Lake County Captains are proud to announce that former Major League All-Star Ellis Burks will be added to Cleveland Sports History Night on Saturday, August 5th. Burks joins Len Barker, Greg and Mike Pruitt, Jim Chones, Campy Russel, Dennis Felton and Mike Moran who are all expected to be on hand for the night. The American League Championship Trophy will be on display and the Captains will be unveiling their new Wall-Of-Fame Plaques.
Burks, 52, played 18 seasons in the big leagues with five different teams, including the Cleveland Indians. Ellis played three seasons in Cleveland, starting in 2001. Burks hit a total of 352 home runs in his career and tallied 1,206 RBI. Burks hit 66 homers and had 193 RBI in his three seasons with the Indians.

Burks was a two-time All-Star who won two Silver Slugger awards along with one Gold Glove over his big league career. Besides Cleveland, Burks played for the Boston Red Sox (7 seasons), Colorado Rockies (5 Seasons), San Francisco Giants (3 Seasons), and Chicago White Sox (1 season). Ellis' best season was 1996 when he batted .344 with 40 HR and 128 RBI. That season Burks also swiped 32 bases and smacked 45 doubles, en route to finishing third in MVP voting.
