Gabryszwski Dazzles in 6-1 Win

(Lansing, MI)- RHP Jeremy Gabryszwski (1-2) pitched eight solid innings for Lansing en route to a 6-1 Lugnuts win over Lake County. Gabryszwski allowed five hits, and one earned run while striking out six during his eight frames of work. The Lansing pen kept the Captains off the board in the ninth preserving the win.

Lansing (6-11) scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning. Santiago Nessy led off the inning with a double to left field. Nessy moved to third on a single and scored on a double by Jason Leblebijian. The score was 1-0. Later in the inning, with two outs and two on, Matt Dean doubled to left field and two more runs came into score. The tally was 3-0 Lugnuts.

The Lugnuts scored three more in the bottom of the fourth inning. Nessy singled, Carlos Ramirez singled and Leblebijian walked to load the bases with two outs. D.J. Davis laced a double to left field that cleared the bases. The score was 6-0 Lugnuts.

The Captains (5-13) scored in the top of the eighth inning to avoid the shutout. Claudio Bautista tripled to right field and scored on a single from Brian Ruiz and the score was 6-1. That turned out to be the final score.

RHP Caleb Hamrick (1-2) started the game for the Captains and took the loss. Hamrick pitched four innings and allowed eight hits, and six earned runs. Hamrick walked one and fanned two. Jordan Milbrath pitched four innings of shutout baseball. Milbrath allowed just one hit and one walk. Milbrath struck out six.

The Captains will stay on the road in Lansing, MI on Wednesday and take on Lansing Lugnuts in game three of a four game series. The Captains will start RHP Adam Plutko (0-0, 2.84) and Lansing will counter with RHP Adonys Cardona (0-2, 5.63). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM from Cooley Law School Stadium.
