Jobu's Voodoo Inspires Captains 8-1 Win

(Eastlake, OH)- Nellie Rodriguez singled home two runs to cap a four run third inning and the Captains beat the Hot Rods 8-1 on Friday Night. Rodriguez also blasted his 18th home run of the season. The Captains improve to 31-24 a home this season. The Captains gave away Jobu bobble head dolls on the Friday to the first 1500 fans through the gates.

Lake County added a run to take the 5-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when they scored a run on a wild pitch. In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Captains used three errors and scored two runs to lead 7-0.

Bowling Green scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning. With a runner at third base, the Captains scored a run on an error and the score was 7-1. Nellie Rodriguez smacked a solo homerun and the scoring was capped at 8-1.

RHP Mitch Brown (4-8) started the ballgame for Lake County and earned the win. Brown twirled five innings, three hits, four walks and he struck out four. Brown earned the win. The Captains used three pitchers in relief to finish off the ballgame. The Bullpen allowed three hits, and earned run and struck out five.

RHP D.J. Slaton (0-2) started game two for Bowling Green and took the loss. Slaton only lasted two and one third innings and allowed four earned runs on five hits. He walked two and fanned three. The Hot Rods used two relief pitchers two finish off the ballgame.

The Captains will continue a six-game home stand on Saturday. Bowing Green will be in town for the second three ballgames. On Saturday, the Captains will start RHP Jordan Milbrath (3-10, 3.33) and the Hot Rods will counter with RHP Jake Faria (6-6, 3.73). First pitch will be at 7:00 Pm from Classic Park in Eastlake, Ohio.

Saturday is a 7 PM start time and is a Firework's Saturday Night presented by Monreal Funeral Home & Cremation Services and will feature a Garth Brooks-themed fireworks show.

The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive a Captains Alumni Baseball Card set presented by Lake County Solid Waste District.  The set features Captains alumni that have made the Majors as well as fan favorites from previous seasons. 

The Captains post-game concert series continues on Saturday with the county band Post Road performing after the game.
