Lake County Evens the Series at 1-1

(Eastlake, OH) - Bryson Myles had three hits and Jordan Smith knocked in a pair as The Lake County Captains defeated the Fort Wayne Tincaps by a final of 7-4 at Classic Park. Lake County scored five times in the second inning. Jose Ramirez singled to give the Captains a 3-1 lead. Later in the inning, Jordan Smith lined a triple down the right field and two runners scored and the lead was 5-1. Lake County evens the Eastern Division Championship Series at one game apiece.

Fort Wayne scored first. In the top of the second inning, Lee Orr singled to right field to beging the inning. Austin Hedges then doubled home Orr and the Tincaps were up 1-0.

In the fourth inning, Fort Wayne scored two runs to cut the lead to 5-3. With two outs, Kyle Gaedele singled to center field and the score was cut to 5-2. The next hitter, Kyle Stubblefield doubled to right center field and the score was 5-3 Captains.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Lake County got a run back. Joey Wendle tripled to right field and scored on a sacrifice fly by Jose Ramirez and the score was 6-3 Lake County. In the top of the fifth, Lee Orr hit a homerun to straight away center field and the score was 6-4. The Captains scored a insurance run in the eighth inning to pad the lead at 7-4, and that was the final.

LHP Elvis Araujo (0-0) started the game for the Captains and got the win. Araujo went four and two thirds innings allowing seven hits, four earned runs, two walks and allowed one homerun. Elvis also fanned three before he left the building. Manny Carmona pitched one third of an inning, and gave way to Louis Head in the sixth. Head pitched three innings of scoreless baseball. Head allowed one hit and struck out two. Enosil Tejada pitched the ninth and did not allow a run. Tejada picked up his third save of the post season.

RHP EriK Cabrera (0-0) got the nod for the Tincaps and took the loss. Cabrera pitched three and one third innings, allowing eight hits, six runs, three earned runs, two walks and he fanned four. The Tincaps bullpen allowed just one earned run on two hits throughout the remainder of the ballgame.

Game three of the series will be on Monday Night at Classic Park. Lake County will end RHP Cody Anderson (0-0, 3.00) to the mound to face RHP James Needy (1-0, 3.60) for Fort Wayne. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
