Loons "Pass" The Captains 1-0

(Eastlake, OH) - James Baldwin scored on a passed ball in the top of the eleventh inning and the Great Lakes Loons (26-41) defeated the Lake County Captains (21-43) by a final of 1-0. The Captains fall to 0-3 in extra innings this year and are now 2-2 in one to nothing games in 2013.

Blake Wood (0-0) was on rehab from the Indians and started the game for the Captains. Blake pitched two thirds of an inning, walked three and struck out one. Robbie Aviles (1-2) entered in relief in the second inning. Aviles did not get a decision after twirling five and one third innings of scoreless baseball. Aviles did not walk anybody and struck out four. D.J. Brown pitched three scoreless innings to get the Captains to extras. Benny Suarez (1-2) took the loss after pitching two innings and surrendering just one unearned run.

Great Lakes saw Miguel Sulbaran (3-2) start the game. Sulbaran pitched six innings, three hits, two walks and five strikeouts. He did not allow a run. Geoff Brown pitched a scoreless inning of relief and surrendered two hits. The Loons bullpen from there held the Captains at bay and did not allow a run. The win went to Alan Garcia (1-1). The Save went to Craig Stem his third of the season. The Loons pitchers allowed just eight hits all night.

Saturday there will be a doubleheader with the first game beginning at 6 PM. The two seven-inning games will be followed by a Saturday Night Fireworks Extravaganza, presented by Monreal Funeral Home & Cremation Services and Fox Sports, Sports Time Ohio. 

The Captains will wear Superman-themed jerseys that night as part Superhero Night. Fans will have the chance to bid on the jerseys as part of a post-game jersey auction with proceeds benefiting Captains Charities. There will also be a special kryptonite drink special that night and several superhero characters will be on hand to meet fans and take photos.

On Saturday the first 1,500 fans will receive a comic book created by local artists courtesy of Comics and Friends. Some of the artists will be in attendance to meet fans and sign the comic books. 

In Game one the Captains will send RHP Jake Sisco (2-5, 3.42) to the mound for the start. RHP Cody Penny (0-0, 0.00) will get the nod in game 2. The Loons will send Arismendy Ozoria (1-3, 5.22). The Loons have not announced a starter for game two.
