Rattlers Slither Past Captains 7-4

(Eastlake, OH)- Wisconsin sent 11 men to the plate in the second inning and scored seven runs as the Timber Rattlers beat the Captains 7-4. Wisconsin used five hits, four walks and two errors to plate the seven runs in the inning. Lake County has dropped eight games in a row for the third time this season.

Richard Stock smashed his third home run of the season way over the right field wall in the bottom of the eighth inning and the score was 7-2. Lake County added a run on an RBI groundout by Claudio Bautista and the score after eight innings was 7-3 Timber Rattlers.

The Captains added a run in the ninth inning when Richard Stock doubled and moved to third on a wild pitch. Brian Ruiz singled Stock home and the score was 7-4, which was the final score.

LHP Luis Lugo (5-8) started the game for the Captains and took the loss. Lugo allowed five runs, four earned runs on three hits, five walks and one strikeout in one and two thirds innings pitched. Justin Garcia pitched three and one third innings and allowed two earned runs on two hits, two walks and three strikeouts. Wander Beras pitched three shutout innings of relief and Beras struck out two. Trevor Frank pitched the ninth inning for Lake County and struck out one.

LHP Anthony Banda (5-6) started for Wisconsin and earned the win. Banda pitched seven shutout innings and allowed three hits and one walk. Banda struck out six. Victor Diaz pitched the final two innings for Wisconsin and allowed four runs, three earned runs on four hits, two walks and he struck out one. Diaz allowed the homer to Stock.

The Captains will continue a six game home stand on Friday. The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers are in town. The Captains will start RHP Mitch Brown (2-8, 4.33) and the Timber Rattlers will counter with RHP Zach Quintana (3-4, 6.02). First Pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM from Classic Park in Eastlake, OH.

Friday and Saturday the Captains will celebrate Christmas in July.  Classic Park will be decorated for Christmas and there will be an appearance by Santa Claus each night.

Friday's game is a Fireworks Friday Night presented by Universal Windows Direct with the fireworks show featuring a Christmas music soundtrack.

In addition, the first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive a bobblehead doll, presented by Lake Health, featuring Skipper washing his mouth out with soap. The doll is the fifth in a series of "A Captains Story" bobbles that pay homage to the Christmas Story house located in Cleveland.
