TONIGHT: Winners of seven of their last nine and 11 of their last 16, the Mudcats continue a four game road trip tonight with game three of a four game series versus the Myrtle Beach Pelicans at TicketReturn.Com Field in Myrtle Beach, SC. Tonight's game is the 17th of 21 total meetings between the two teams this season. The current series is tied at 1-1 as Carolina lost last night's game 11-3 in Myrtle Beach.
ICYMI: The Mudcats allowed 11 runs and 14 hits while falling to the Pelicans 11-3 in game two of a four game series in Myrtle Beach on Tuesday night. Cooper Hummel went 2-for-3 with two runs and a RBI in the series tying loss for the Mudcats.
ABOUT THE LAST ONE: The Mudcats set new season highs for runs (11) allowed in a road game and hits (14) allowed in a road game in last night's loss to the Pelicans in Myrtle Beach.
STARTING OFF: RHP Devin Williams has tonight's game three of four start for the Mudcats in Myrtle Beach. Tonight marks Williams' seventh start of the season; he is currently 0-2 with a 5.14 ERA over six appearances this year. He has also totaled 19 strikeouts, five walks and a .293 average against over 14.0 innings this season. Williams allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits over 2.1 innings his last time out on July 6 against the Keys in Zebulon. Williams also walked one, struck out two and left during third with the Keys leading the game 3-0.
WHERE THEY RANK: RHP Conor Harber is currently 1st in the Carolina League in earned run average (2.20) and is 3rd in average against (.209)… LHP Cam Roegner is currently 2nd in the Carolina League in earned run average (2.38), 1st in innings pitched (94.1), tied for 2nd in wins (8) and 5th among starters in fewest baserunners/9ip (10.89)… RHP Braden Webb is currently 6th in the CL in most strikeouts (79), 3rd among CL starters in lowest batting average against (.223) and 4th in highest SO/9ip ratio (9.12)… INF Tucker Neuhaus (106) leads CL hitters in most strikeouts, is 6th in extra-base hits (31) and is tied for 3rd in triples (5)… OF Ryan Aguilar is currently 2nd in the CL in triples (7)… RHP Luke Barker is currently tied for CL lead in saves (12), games (30) and games finished (23). Barker is also 3rd among CL relievers in lowest batting average (.179), 3rd in lowest BB/9ip ratio (1.90) and 1st in fewest baserunners/9ip ratio (7.59).
OF LATE: The Mudcats have gone 16-8 over their last 24 games and have combined to pitch to a 2.86 ERA while also owning a +10 run differential since June 14 (game one of a five game series in Myrtle Beach). During that same span the Carolina offense has combined to hit just .235 with an average of 3.7 runs per game (since 6/14). The Carolina starting rotation, meanwhile, has gone 10-6 with nine quality starts and a 3.10 ERA over that same stretch. The bullpen has combined to pitch to a 2.51 ERA and has gone 6-2 with 13 saves (15 SVO) and 78 strikeouts over 86.0 innings since June 14. They have also combined to allow only three of 25 inherited runners to score since June 14.
TRENDING: Weston Wilson has hit safely in a season best 11 straight games and is batting .390/.409/.610 with a 1.019 OPS during the streak (16-for-41, 6 R, 1 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, 13 RBI)... Dallas Carroll has hit safely in 7 straight games (.320/.452/.600, 1.052 OPS, 8-for-25, 6 R, 1 2B, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 6 BB)... Devin Hairston has hit safely in 7 straight games (.367/.406/.467, .873 OPS, 11-for-30, 5 R, 1 2B, 1 3B, 2 RBI, 2 BB).

INTRA-DIV: The Mudcats are currently just 30-37 in games against Southern Division opponents and own the Carolina League's second worst in division winning percentage (.455) this season. Carolina, however, currently 16-6 (.727) over 22 games against Northern Division (vs. FRE: 6-2, vs. LYN: 2-1, .vs WIL: 5-2, vs. SAL: 3-1) teams this season and own the CL's best winning percentage in games outside their own division.
