APPLETON, Wisconsin -- For the second straight game, the Kernels plated 11 runs after defeating the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Thursday evening, 11-5.

The Kernels got the scoring going right away in the top of the first when Michael Helman hit an RBI-triple to right-center, then Aaron Sabato brought him in with a sacrifice fly to right to make it 2-0 lead.

Then in the second inning, the scoring continued. The Kernels scored six runs on three hits, four walks, and two batsmen, increasing their lead to 8-0.

Then the home run train came along in the fourth inning. Alex Isola smashed his 15th home run of the season to left field to make it a 9-1 lead. The next batter, Jeferson Morales followed up with his own solo home run, increasing the lead to 10-1.

Then in the fifth inning, Edouard Julien hit a solo home run to center field. It was the third consecutive day he recorded a home run, a new season-high for him.

The Kernels have hit 10 home runs against the Timber Rattlers in three games of this series. They've now hit 31 total home runs against Wisconsin in 21 games.

With the win, the Kernels move one game ahead of Great Lakes and Lake County for the second playoff spot.

The Kernels and the Timber Rattlers will meet again on Friday at 6:35 p.m.
