Pat Winkel drove in the tying run with one-out and two on base in the frame. His single to center field scored Jake Rucker and allowed Seth Gray to move up to third. Then, Wisconsin relief pitcher Robbie Baker was called for a balk, which allowed the Kernels to score the decisive run.

Starting pitcher Travis Adams set the tone for Cedar Rapids on the mound. In his fourth start and fourth appearance of the season, the right-hander from Desert Hot Springs, California struck out five of the Timber Rattlers’ first seven batters.

Bobby Milacki (6-1) relieved Adams to start the sixth inning and earned the victory. Hunter McMahon threw the final two innings for the Kernels to earn his second save.

The victory was the fourth in the last five games for the Kernels, who have the first two games of the six-game series against Wisconsin.
