Tim Beckham Named Player of the Week

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- Charlotte Knights infielder Tim Beckham, who hit six home runs last week over a four-game stretch (6/15-6/18), was named as the Triple-A East Player of the Week for the week ending on June 20, 2021.

For the week, Beckham hit .526 (10-for-19) with 10 runs scored, one double, six home runs and nine RBIs in five games. His six home runs were the most by a Triple-A East player last week. He began the week with back-to-back two-homer games from Tuesday, June 15 to Wednesday, June 16. He then followed up that performance with a home run in each of his next two games. He had two hits in each of his five games.

During the month of June, Beckham is hitting .353 (18-for-51) with 14 runs scored, three doubles, nine home runs and 18 RBIs in 14 games. Overall for the 2021 season, he is hitting .260 (32-for-123) with 24 runs scored, six doubles, 10 home runs and 27 RBIs.

He currently leads the Knights in home runs and runs scored. Additionally, the Georgia native is tied for sixth in the Triple-A East in home runs.

Beckham, 31, was signed by the Chicago White Sox as a free agent on October 29, 2020. He was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays as the first overall pick in the June 2008 First-Year Player Draft. He has appeared in 472 Major League Baseball games over parts of six seasons.

This is the second weekly award given out to a Knights player this season. Marco Hernández was named Triple-A East Player of the Week for the week ending on May 16.
