(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jiménez, who is currently on the team's 10-day Injured List, will begin a Major League Baseball rehab assignment with the Charlotte Knights starting tonight at BB&T Ballpark in Uptown Charlotte. The Knights will open an exciting six-game homestand from BB&T Ballpark in Uptown Charlotte tonight at 7:04 p.m. against the Rochester Red Wings (Triple-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins).
Jimenez, 22, was placed on Chicago's Injured List on April 28 (retroactive to April 27) with a high right ankle sprain. Overall this season, the Dominican native is hitting .241 (19-for-79) with six runs scored, two doubles, three home runs, and eight RBIs over 21 game with the White Sox.
Last season, he hit .355 (75-for-211) with 28 runs scored, 13 doubles, one triple, 12 home runs, and 33 RBIs over 55 games with the Knights. He combined to hit .337 (140-for-416) with 28 doubles, three triples, 22 home runs, 75 RBIs, and a .384 on-base percentage over 108 combined games between Charlotte and Double-A Birmingham.
Additionally, catcher Seby Zavala was activated off Charlotte's Injured List today, while catcher Michael Hickman was placed on the team's Injured List (retroactive to May 10).
