(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - The Charlotte Knights dropped the first game of the home series against the Gwinnett Stripers by a score of 6-3 on Tuesday night.

Charlotte’s starting pitcher Steven Moyers (1-2, 7.31) took the loss in the game after giving up four runs in two innings. Gwinnett’s starting pitcher Nolan Kingham (4-3, 4.26) earned the win after throwing five innings, giving up three runs on five hits. The Stripers’ Michael Tonkin got his 10th save of the season, pitching one inning and striking out two batters.

The offense put up some big hits in the game, with left fielder Adam Haseley and first baseman Ryder Jones hitting solo home runs to account for two of the Knights’ three runs.

The home run by Haseley was his 12th of the season.

For Jones, it was his seventh home run of the season. He went 1-for-2 with the home run on the night.

In Jake Burger’s first game back at Truist Field since May 22, he hit a triple and was later knocked in by an RBI single from catcher Carlos Pérez in the fourth inning.

Out of the bullpen, Andrew Perez threw a strong inning striking out two batters, while Kade McClure also threw a perfect inning, striking out two.

The Knights will be back at Truist Field for the second game of the six-game homestand against Gwinnett. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. Wednesday evening.
