Knights Drop Tuesday's Game to Stripers 8-1

(LAWRENCEVILLE, GA) -- The Charlotte Knights dropped game two of their four-game series against the Gwinnett Stripers from Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, GA by a score of 8-1 on Tuesday night. With the loss, the Knights and Stripers are now even in the series with one win apiece.

Offensively for the Knights, center fielder Charlie Tilson and third baseman Patrick Leonard had two hits each to lead the way. Second baseman Eddy Alvarez reached base a total of three times on the night. Alvarez, who went 1-for-2 with two walks, has now reached base safely in eight-straight road games. He is batting .317 through 13 games this season. As a team, the Knights mustered a total of nine hits.

RHP Donny Roach (3-2, 4.46) started for the Knights and was saddled with the loss after he allowed seven runs on 10 hits in 3.1 innings pitched. Wednesday's start was the seventh of the season for Roach, which is tied for the most in the International League in 2018.

Gwinnett LHP Kolby Allard (2-1, 2.12) earned the win after allowing just one run on eight hits over six innings of work. The Stripers used two big innings to do most of their damage on Tuesday. The team scored three runs in the first inning and four runs in the fourth inning.

The Knights will continue their four-game series against the Gwinnett Stripers (Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves) from Lawrenceville, GA on Wednesday in their first of two consecutive morning games. Pre-game radio coverage of Wednesday's 10:35 a.m. game will begin at 10:20 a.m. on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte and CharlotteKnights.com. KNIGHTS KNOTES: Charlotte first baseman Matt Skole went 1-for-4 with his ninth double of the season… Seven of Charlotte's starting nine batters had at least one hit in Tuesday's game… RHP Juan Minaya struck-out two batters over a scoreless seventh inning… Before the game, the Knights added outfielder Mason Robbins to their active roster. Robbins was promoted to Charlotte from Double-A Birmingham on Monday… The Knights will return home to BB&T Ballpark on Friday, May 11th for a three-game series against the Durham Bulls… On Saturday, May 12th, the Knight will host their 13th Annual Pink Knights game presented by Charlotte Radiology.
