Knights Earn 6-4 Win Over Clippers Wednesday

RHP Michael Kopech Gets the Win, Avisaíl García Homers Again

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- The Charlotte Knights charged past the Columbus Clippers by a score of 6-4 on Wednesday night at BB&T Ballpark in Uptown Charlotte behind infielder Matt Skole 's three RBIs. With the win, Charlotte improved to 15-9 in its last 24 games.

RHP Michael Kopech (3-5, 5.08) picked up the win after allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits while striking out six over five innings. The Charlotte bullpen was sharp with LHP Aaron Bummer , RHP Rob Scahill and RHP Thyago Vieira combing for four innings of one-run baseball. Vieira also earned his fourth save of the season in the win.

The Knights tagged Columbus RHP Michael Peoples (0-1, 12.46) for six runs on seven hits in 4.1 innings. Designated hitter Avisaíl García homered in his second straight game when crushed a two-run blast in the 5th innings. Skole notched his 7th home run on the season with a solo shot in the 2nd inning.

The Knights will conclude their three-game series against the Clippers on Thursday with a 7:04 p.m. game from BB&T Ballpark. Gates will open at 6:00 p.m. and the first 2,000 fans will receive a Michael Kopech Pre-game radio coverage of Thursday's game will begin at 6:50 PM on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte.
