Knights Fall to Jumbo Shrimp 4-2 on Friday

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) – The Charlotte Knights dropped game five of the seven-game series against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp by a score of 4-2 from Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte on Friday night.

Charlotte catcher Nate Nolan hit his fifth home run of the season, a solo shot in the bottom of the second inning. Nolan’s blast gave the Knights a 1-0 lead, which lasted until the top of the sixth inning.

RHP Mike Wright (6-4, 3.27) cruised through the first five innings of the game without allowing a run. In the sixth, however, the ‘Shrimp scored three runs off of Wright. The inning was capped off by a two-run home run off the bat of Jacksonville catcher Nick Fortes. In all, Wright pitched into the seventh inning and allowed four runs over 6.2 innings. Despite the strong effort from Wright, he was saddled with the loss.

Chicago White Sox outfielder Luis Robert continued his rehab assignment and went 1-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base. Both the Knights and Jumbo Shrimp managed six hits each in Friday’s game.

The Knights will continue the seven-game series against the Jumbo Shrimp on Saturday night with first pitch set for 7:04 p.m. from Truist Field.
