Knights Fall to Stripers in Game Two

(CHARLOTTE, N.C.) – Yermín Mercedes scored the only run as the Knights fell to the Gwinnett Stripers by a final score of 11-1 on Wednesday night from Truist Field.

Mercedes scored the lone Knights run, after a double to deep center field with no outs in the ninth. Nick Williams collected two hits and drove in the only Knights run on a groundout to shortstop to break up the shutout.

Knights' left fielder Eloy Jiménez made his second rehab start of the season for the Knights and collected a single to right field in four plate appearances. Infielder Matt Reynolds snapped an 0-10 with a single to right field in the fifth inning.

LHP Matt Tomshaw (0-4, 7.45) started and was saddled with the loss. Tomshaw struck-out six batters and allowed four hits, four runs, four earned in five innings of work. Relievers Will Carter and Keyvius Sampson each tossed a scoreless inning out of the bullpen for the Knights.
