(CHARLOTTE, N.C.) – Outfielder Luis González continued his recent surge at the plate and Catcher Deivy Grullón launched his second home run in as many days. However the Charlotte Knights dropped their sixth consecutive game on Friday night as they fell by a final score of 5-3 to the Gwinnett Stripers from Truist Field.
Yermín Mercedes scored in the first inning following his first Triple-A three bagger down the line in right in the first inning. González notched two more hits, two singles, and two walks in four plate appearances.
Grullón launched another mammoth solo home run that traveled over 400-feet, this time landing in front of the batters eye in dead center to bring the Knights to within 5-2 in the seventh inning. Gwinnett would hold on over the final two innings to notch their ninth win in 10 tries at Truist Field this season.

RHP Alex McRae (2-4, 5.28 ERA) started and took the loss. McRae struck out four while going five and two thirds innings, surrendering eight hits, five runs, and five earned runs. Three Knights relievers combined to shut out the Stripers hitters over the final three and a third innings of relief.
