(NASHVILLE, TN) – The Nashville Sounds scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning en route to a 3-1 win over the Charlotte Knights on Thursday in game three of the six-game series from First Horizon Park in Nashville, TN. The Sounds have won all three games in the series so far.

LHP Brandon Finnegan started for the Knights and allowed one run on three hits in just one inning of work. He was the first of nine pitchers for the Knights in Thursday’s game. Nashville’s Mario Feliciano singled home the team’s first run of the game in the first inning against Finnegan to give the Sounds an early 1-0 lead.

The Sounds held the 1-0 lead all the way until the top of the seventh inning when the Knights scored a run against Nashville reliever Luis Perdomo. Charlotte catcher Carlos Pérez grounded into a forceout in the inning, which scored third baseman Zach Remillard for Charlotte’s first and only run of the game. The RBI was the team-high 54th of the season for Pérez.

The game remained tied until the bottom of the eighth inning when the Sounds scored two runs off reliever Lincoln Henzman (2-3, 5.40), who was charged with the loss. Henzman gave up both runs on one play in the eighth inning. With runners on the corners and just one out in the inning, Henzman threw a wild pitch for ball four, which led to the two runs. Jon Singleton, who doubled earlier in the inning, scored on the wild pitch to give the Sounds the lead. The ball, which got away from Charlotte catcher Carlos Pérez, allowed Singleton to score. Another run scored on the play when Pérez tried to throw out Pablo Reyes at third base but an errant throw allowed Reyes to score Nashville’s third run of the game.

In the ninth -- with Nashville ahead by a score of 3-1 -- reliever Trevor Kelley struck-out the side to shut the door on game three. He earned his fifth save of the season.

Chicago White Sox infielder Jake Burger had two hits in his second game on rehab. White Sox outfielder Luis Robert added a hit in his first game of his rehab assignment and left fielder Blake Rutherford chipped in with two hits on the night to pace Charlotte’s offense.

The Knights will continue the six-game road series against the Nashville Sounds from Nashville, TN on Friday night. First pitch on Friday is set for 8:05 p.m. from First Horizon Park.
