Your Charlotte Knights are back home this week to open a six-game series against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins) at Truist Field from Tuesday, June 15th to Sunday, June 20th.

The team returns home to the Queen City after wrapping up a six-game road trip against the Durham Bulls (Triple-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays) from Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

WINS IN TWO OF FINAL THREE GAMES
The Knights went 2-4 in the series, but closed out the series on a high note winning two of the final three games. After dropping the first three games of the series, the Knights won Friday’s game by a score of 5-4 and Sunday's game by a score of 1-0. The impressive pitching performances on Friday and Sunday were keys to Charlotte's victories on the road trip.

ON THE MOUND
RHP Mike Wright has been one of the top pitchers in Triple-A baseball this season. The 31-year-old right-hander continued his memorable season on the mound with another stellar performance on Friday night. Wright (3-1, 2.21) pitched into the seventh inning and helped lead the Knights to a thrilling 5-4 win over the Bulls in game four of the series. The win was Wright’s third over his last three starts. The Scotland County, NC native allowed just three hits and two runs on the night while striking out five batters. It was Charlotte’s first win of the road trip.

Two days later, the Knights closed out the road trip with another impressive pitching performance en route to their second win of the trip. RHP Jimmy Lambert (1-0, 4.22) started and earned his first career Triple-A win with a solid five-inning outing. The 26-year-old right-hander allowed just two hits over five shutout innings for the victory. He walked just one and struck-out four batters in his longest start of the season.

PEN PALS
After Lambert on Sunday, the Knights received impressive performances from left-handed pitchers Matt Tomshaw, Kodi Medeiros and Nik Turley. The trio provided a remarkable 1-2-3 punch out of the Charlotte bullpen. Tomshaw struck-out two batters over two shutout innings, while Medeiros struck-out one in his scoreless eighth-inning appearance. In the ninth, Turley retired the side in order to earn his third save of the season.

FORMER BULL HAS BIG WEEK
Infielder Tim Beckham had a huge week against his former team. Beckham, who spent parts of six seasons with the Bulls from 2011-2016, homered in the first two games of the six-game series. Originally selected by the Tampa Bay Rays as the first overall pick in the June 2008 First-Year Player Draft, Beckham had seven hits and eight RBIs over the first four games of the series.

HITTING STREAK
Infielder Matt Reynolds had a tremendous week at the plate for the Knights in Durham. Reynolds had a hit in all six games on the trip and led the team with nine hits overall. He posted a .409 batting average (9-for-22) with three runs scored, one triple and two RBIs. He had a three-hit game on Thursday, June 10th. Reynolds returns home to Truist Field with an eight-game hitting streak.

GAME-WINNING HOMER
1B/OF Gavin Sheets had one of the biggest hits of the road trip. Sheets launched a solo home run in the fourth inning of Sunday’s game and that was all the Knights needed to win the finale by a score of 1-0. The home run was his sixth of the season and it tied third baseman Jake Burger for the team lead. Sheets has excelled this season especially on Sundays. The 25-year-old has hit four of his six home runs this season on Sundays.
