(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) – The Charlotte Knights, Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, will play ten additional games this year – including five at home against the Norfolk Tides from Sept. 21-26. Major League Baseball made the announcement today that it will extend Triple-A play for all 30 teams at its highest minor league classification with the “Triple-A Final Stretch” postseason tournament.

Beginning Tuesday, September 21, the Knights will host the Tides (Orioles’ Triple-A affiliate) at Truist Field in five single games over a six-day period:

“We’re extremely pleased to have the opportunity to host additional games at Truist Field,” said Knights’ Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer Dan Rajkowski. “Following a year without baseball, to be able to have 65 home games with most of them at full capacity is wonderful for our fans and everyone associated with the Knights. Making the home games even more meaningful as part of the Triple-A Final Stretch postseason tournament will add to the excitement.”

Tickets are available for the five additional home games and all remaining Knights’ games now at charlotteknights.com, by calling (704) 274-8282, or in person at Truist Field ticket office. Promotions for the new home games will be announced soon.

Following off days on September 27-28, the Knights will conclude the 2021 season with a five-game series at Memphis from September 29 through October 3. The matchup between the Knights and Memphis Redbirds (Cardinals’ Triple-A affiliate) will be the first and only of the season between the Triple-A Southeast Division clubs. The Redbirds, formerly a member of the Pacific Coast League, play their home games at Auto Zone Park in downtown Memphis.

To add a layer of excitement and competitiveness to the additional ten games, Major League Baseball will declare a winner of the Triple-A Final Stretch based on the results of those contests and, if necessary, tiebreaker criteria. The winning Triple-A Final Stretch club will receive a prize from MLB.
