Knights Win Rain-Shortened Game on Sunday 9-5

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- The Charlotte Knights earned a 9-5 win over the Louisville Bats on Sunday in a rain-shortened game from BB&T Ballpark. Sunday's game was called due to inclement weather with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The two teams also completed Saturday's suspended game with the Bats coming away with a 6-4 win on Sunday afternoon. In all, the Knights won three of four games in the series against the Bats. The Knights are now 5-2 on the homestand.

RHP Connor Walsh (1-0, 2.51) notched the win in Sunday's originally scheduled matchup after 3.1 solid innings in relief of RHP Dylan Cease. RHP Jimmy Cordero made his Charlotte debut and tossed two shutout innings out of the bullpen. Cease allowed four runs on two hits over 0.2 innings and did not factor in the decision.

The Knights used a seven-run third inning to beat the Bats in Sunday's game. Charlotte center fielder Adam Engel launched a three-run home run in the inning, his fifth of the season. Engel finished the game 2-for-4 with two runs scored, the home run, and three RBIs. Catcher Zack Collins chipped in with two hits and three RBIs.

The Knights will wrap up their eight-game homestand at BB&T Ballpark on Monday with a 7:04 p.m. game against the Durham Bulls. Gates will open at 6:00 p.m. and the team will hold Bark in the Ballpark presented by Williams Subaru. Fans can also enjoy $1 Sahlen's Hot Dogs at Monday's game.
