Matt Parrott Earns 2017 Triple-A Sports Turf Manager of the Year Award

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA) and Minor League Baseball (MiLB) recently named the 2017 'Sports Turf Managers of the Year' sponsored by STMA and John Deere. The Charlotte Knights are pleased to announce that Matt Parrott, the team's head groundskeeper, has been named as the 2017 Triple-A Sports Turf Manager of the Year.

Parrott will receive this top honor at the Major League Baseball Winter Meetings Banquet on Monday, Dec. 11, at Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort in Orlando, Florida, along with winners from Double-A, Single-A, and Short Season or Rookie. Parrott is a two-time winner of this award. Back in 2011, he won the the 'Double-A Sports Turf Manager of the Year' award as a member of the Bowie Baysox of the Eastern League.
Parrrot, who joined the Knights prior to the 2016 season, also earned the 2017 'International League Sports Turf Manager of the Year' award back in September. That award was selected by field managers and pitching coaches from around the league.
Before joining the Knights for the 2016 season, he spent 13 seasons with the Bowie Baysox. During his tenure in Bowie, MD, he earned the 'Eastern League Diamond Pro Sports Field Manager of the Year' award three times (2011 & 2014-15). In 2011, Parrott was also named as the STMA (Sports Turf Managers Association) Double-A Sports Turf Manager of the Year.
A native of Boone, North Carolina, Parrott received his BSBA undergraduate degree from Appalachian State University and an AAS Turfgrass Management degree from North Carolina State University.
