Parrott Named 2018 Triple-A Sports Turf Manager of the Year

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA) and Minor League Baseball (MiLB) recently named the 2018 Sports Turf Managers of the Year sponsored by STMA and John Deere. For a second consecutive season, the Charlotte Knights are pleased to announce that Matt Parrott has been named as the Triple-A Sports Turf Manager of the Year.

Parrrot, the team's head groundskeeper since 2016, will receive his award at the 2018 Major League Baseball Winter Meetings during the Awards Luncheon on Monday, December 10 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. During his three seasons with the Knights, Parrott has also earned the 2017 Triple-A Sports Turf Manager of the Year, as well as the International League's top award in each of the past two seasons (2017-18).
Before joining the Knights, Parrott spent 13 seasons with the Bowie Baysox. During his tenure in Bowie, MD, he earned the Eastern League Diamond Pro Sports Field Manager of the Year award three times (2011 & 2014-15). In 2011, Parrott was named as the Double-A Sports Turf Manager of the Year.

    Short Season or Rookie - Ray Sayre, Gulf Coast Phillies (Clearwater, Fla.)
A native of Boone, NC, Parrott received his BSBA undergraduate degree from Appalachian State University and an AAS Turfgrass Management degree from North Carolina State University.
