Luis Robert had an impressive rookie season. After winning a Rawlings Gold Glove Award last week, the talented 23-year-old now has another chance to add one more distinguished award to his trophy case.

Robert is one of three finalists for the American League Rookie of the Year Award, joining Seattle's Kyle Lewis and Houston's Cristian Javier. The winner of the award will be announced on November 9, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. EST.

HOW HE STARTED
Robert certainly lived up to the hype during his first season in the majors with the Chicago White Sox. After taking the minors by storm in 2019 -- including a remarkable run in Charlotte -- Robert jumped out to a solid start to the shortened season. Over his first two months as a major leaguer (33 games), Robert hit .298 with 22 runs scored, eight doubles, 10 home runs, 24 RBIs, and four stolen bases. For his solid play in the month of August -- the first full month of the 2020 season -- Robert earned the American League's Rookie of the Month Award for July/August. He hit .298 with 9 home runs and 20 RBIs in August (26 games).

SEPTEMBER
The month of September was not too kind to Robert, who battled through a slump. The Cuban native hit .136 (11-for-81) with one homer and seven RBIs in 23 games. Despite the month-long slump, Robert finished the season on a high note. He hit .455 (5-for-11) against the Chicago Cubs over his final three games.

PLAYOFFS
Robert's impressive rookie campaign was a big part of Chicago's exciting run to the 2020 MLB Postseason. In the playoffs, he hit .308 (4-for-13) with two runs scored, one home run and two RBIs over three games. In game three of the Wild Card Series against the Oakland A's, Robert launched a 487-foot home run -- the longest by a White Sox player in the Statcast era and the second longest in postseason history in the Statcast era. At 23 years and 59 days old, Robert was also the youngest player in White Sox history to hit a postseason home run.

OVERALL IN 2020
For the season, Robert hit .233 (47-for-202) with 33 runs scored, eight doubles, 11 home runs, 31 RBIs, and nine stolen bases in 56 games. On November 3, 2020, Robert was named the American League Rawlings Gold Glove Award-winner among center fielders. With the award, he became the first rookie in Chicago White Sox history to win the award since Tommie Agee (1966). There's no doubt that the sky is the limit for Robert and that 2020 is the beginning of a solid career in Chicago.
