(OAKLAND, CA) -- Luis Robert launched a mammoth 487-foot home run, but the Chicago White Sox fell to the Oakland A's by a score of 6-4 in the deciding game of a best-of-three series on Thursday from the Oakland Coliseum in Oakland, CA. With the loss, the 2020 season officially comes to a close for the White Sox, who were in the postseason for the first time since 2008.

After winning game one of the American League Wild Card Series on Tuesday with a solid pitching performance from Lucas Giolito, the White Sox dropped the final two games of the series.

Robert got the White Sox off to a solid start with his solo home run in the top of the second inning of Thursday's contest. Robert, who hit .297 with the Charlotte Knights in 2019, became the youngest player since Mickey Mantle to launch a postseason home run on Thursday.

One inning later, Robert put the White Sox back on the scoreboard with an RBI single to give the team a 2-0 lead. Nomar Mazara, the next batter, added an RBI double to give the White Sox a 3-0 lead at that point. The White Sox only mustered one more run along the way, while the A's used two key innings to score a total of six runs for the victory.

In all, the A's scored four of their six runs in the fourth inning and their final two runs of the game in the fifth inning to earn the win. The Oakland offense capitalized on Chicago's bullpen, which saw a total of eight relievers enter the game after starter Dane Dunning exited in the first.

The White Sox finished the 2020 regular season with a 35-25 record and were the first American League team to clinch a playoff spot.
