(DURHAM, NC) – RHP Mike Wright has been the right pitcher at the right time for the Charlotte Knights in 2021.

Wright (3-1, 2.21) pitched into the seventh inning and helped lead the Charlotte Knights to a thrilling 5-4 win over the Durham Bulls on Friday night in game four of the six-game series from Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The win was Wright’s third over his last three starts.

On the mound for his sixth start of the season, Wright twirled 6.2 solid innings on Friday. The Scotland County, NC native allowed just three hits and two runs on the night while striking out five batters. He threw 97 pitches.

Even more important for Wright, he once again helped the Knights get back into the win column.

In each of his last three starts -- and wins -- Wright has stopped a losing streak for the Knights. Friday’s win stopped the team’s three-game losing skid. His win on May 28th stopped a six-game losing streak and his June 4th gem stopped a four-game losing streak.

The Knights received some significant help once again from first baseman Tim Beckham, who led the way with two doubles and three RBIs. Beckham, who homered in each of the first two games of this series against his former team, is now batting .333 (8-for-24) with three home runs and nine RBIs in June (seven games).

LHP Jace Fry continued his major league rehab assignment and allowed two runs over 1.1 innings. The runs were the first allowed by Fry this season on his rehab assignment (8.1 innings pitched). LHP Hunter Schryver entered in the ninth and walked one batter but still earned his first save of the season.

The Knights and Bulls will continue the six-game series from Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Saturday night at 6:35 p.m. The “Voice of the Charlotte Knights” Matt Swierad will have the call on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte and www.CharlotteKnights.com.
