DUNEDIN, Fla. (May 15, 2017) - The Charlotte Stone Crabs erased a four-run deficit but eventually fell 6-5 to the Dunedin Blue Jays Monday at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium.
With the game tied at one in the bottom of the fifth, Blue Jays (21-17) right fielder Andrew Guillotte singled to left against Stone Crabs (18-19) starter Michael Santos . After Cavan Biggio singled to move Guillotte to second, Troy Tulowitzki hammered a hit to left to give Dunedin a 2-1 lead. The next batter was catcher Max Pentecost, who banked a three-run home run off the scoreboard to extend the Blue Jays' lead to 5-1.
Trailing by three in the top of the seventh, the Stone Crabs got back-to-back walks from David Rodríguez and Jake Fraley . After a wild pitch advanced the runners, David Olmedo-Barrera pulled a ground ball to first base which scored Rodriguez to make it 5-2. Peter Maris then pulled a double to right to plate Fraley and make the count 5-3. After another wild pitch moved Maris to third, Jake Cronenworth grounded out to push Maris across and make the score 5-4.
Still down by one run in the ninth, Olmedo-Barrera greeted Blue Jays reliever Ryan Cook (3-0) with a solo home run to right field to tie the game at five. It was Olmedo-Barrera's second home run of the year.
In a tie game in the bottom of the ninth, Guillotte led off with a single against Charlotte reliever Noel Rodriguez (0-1). After Cavan Biggio bunted him to second, Josh Almonte bounced a single into right to score Guillotte and give Dunedin a 6-5 walk-off win.
