PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (June 8, 2017) - Former Charlotte Stone Crabs RHP Jacob Faria made his Major League debut for the Tampa Bay Rays Wednesday, becoming the 41st Stone Crab to reach the Majors.
Faria earned the win over the Chicago White Sox, turning in 6.1 quality innings. He surrendered only one run on three hits while fanning five and walking two.  
The La Palma, California native is the 25th Stone Crabs player to debut with the Rays and the 25th pitcher overall to reach the Show (17 with Rays).
Faria joins RHP Chih-Wei Hu, LHP José Alvarado, RHP Ryne Stanek and RHP Hunter Wood as the fifth former Stone Crab to debut in 2017.
The Gahr High School graduate spent the first half of the 2015 season with Charlotte, going 10-1 with a 1.33 ERA over 74.1 dominant innings. His 1.33 ERA is still second best in Stone Crabs history (Min. 50 IP). A tenth-round pick in 2011, Faria was promoted to Double-A Montgomery on June 24, 2015.
Faria becomes the seventh member of the 2015 Stone Crabs to make the Majors, joining RHP Chih-Wei Hu, RHP German Márquez, INF Junior Querecuto, OF Joey Rickard, RHP Ryne Stanek and RHP Hunter Wood.
