PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (May 30, 2019) - The Clearwater Threshers rallied for seven runs in the fourth inning Thursday, taking the series from the Charlotte Stone Crabs with a 10-2 win at Charlotte Sports Park.
The seven runs were the most the Stone Crabs' (27-26) pitching staff had allowed in an inning all year.  
Despite the loss, Charlotte outfielder Moises Gomez delivered a two-run home run in the bottom of the second inning, briefly giving the Stone Crabs a 2-1 lead. Carl Chester also notched two hits in defeat.
Gomez is now 7-for-16 with three doubles, a homer and 6 RBI in his last four games.
Clearwater (28-25) racked up 15 hits in the first seven innings Thursday, the most hits the Charlotte staff has allowed in a game all year.
Threshers shortstop Nick Maton finished 4-for-5 with two RBI. Five Clearwater hitters enjoyed multi-hit nights.
Stone Crabs relievers Mikey York and Chandler Raiden were both bright spots in the lopsided defeat. York went 2.1 scoreless innings before Raiden struck out three of the four batters he faced.
The Stone Crabs will begin a three-game series with the St. Lucie Mets beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Joe Ryan (1-2, 4.20) will be on the mound for Charlotte, against Dedniel Nunez (0-0, 1.80) of St. Lucie. Coverage begins at 6:15 p.m. on the Stone Crabs Baseball Network.
