PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (July 2, 2018) - The Fort Myers Miracle scored 10 unanswered runs after a 90-minute rain delay to defeat the Charlotte Stone Crabs 11-3 Monday night at Charlotte Sports Park.

With the game tied 1-1 after the delay, the Miracle (35-44, 7-4) got the leadoff man on with a catcher's interference. After a stolen base and a throwing error, Mark Contreras singled to make it 2-1 Fort Myers. Two batters later, Alex Kirilloff lined an RBI triple to right center to make it 3-1. Miguel Sano then singled to left to extend the Fort Myers to 4-1 before a Caleb Hamilton sacrifice fly capped the inning at 5-1.

The Miracle added two more runs in the sixth to make it 7-1 before rallying for four runs on six hits in the seventh to make it 11-1.

Rene Pinto drove home two runs for Charlotte in the eighth on a double to left to cap the scoring at 11-3.

Charlotte starter Willy Ortiz went three innings before the game entered the rain delay, allowing one unearned run on three hits while striking out two. However, the bullpen took a thumping, allowing 10 runs on 13 hits.

The Stone Crabs scored their first run in the third when left fielder Jake Fraley doubled to the left field corner before advancing to third on a Zac Law bunt. Fraley then came home to score on a wild pitch to tie the game.

Monday's margin of defeat (8) was the largest of the season for the Stone Crabs. Their pitching staff tied season highs for runs allowed (11) and hits allowed (16).

The Stone Crabs will look to earn a split of the series at 6:35 p.m. on Tuesday. Chris Archer (MLB Rehab) makes the start for Charlotte against Clark Beeker (3-5, 3.63) of Fort Myers. Coverage will begin at 6:20 p.m. on the Stone Crabs Baseball Network.
