The Chattanooga Lookouts had a 4-1 lead entering the ninth inning, but the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp scored four runs to rally past the home team for a 5-4 win.
Lookouts starting pitcher Tyler Wells had a stellar start, throwing six shutout innings while striking out seven batters. In his five starts this season Wells has not allowed more than two runs. He has also sruck out seven batters in all but one of those outings.
Down one run in the eighth inning the Lookouts offense, and the crowd of 4,132, came alive. Newest Lookout Joe Cronin led off the inning with a single and advanced to third on a Tanner English single and an error. After English, Mitchell Kranson tied the game with a sacriice fly. Brent Rooker followed that up with a single to put two runners back on base. Slugger Andy Wilkins then came up to the plate and belted a mammoth home run to give the Lookouts the 4-1 lead.
The team's momentum and lead were short lived, however. In the ninth the Jumbo Shrimp loaded the bases against Williams Ramirez. LHP Anthony Marzi relieved Ramirez and gave up a two-run single to Sharif Othman. The game became tied on a force out and the winning run was driven in on a Brian Miller double.
Tomorrow, the Lookouts and Jumbo Shrimp return for the last Autograph Sunday of the year! Gates for Sunday's 2:15 p.m. game open at 1:00 p.m.
