Ballpark A-to-Z Guide

October 21, 2013

ABOUT THE TEAM

MountainStar Sports Group, LLC, made up of Woody Hunt, Paul Foster, Josh Hunt and Alejandra de la Vega Foster, was incorporated in 2012.

MountainStar worked for more than two years to bring professional-affiliated sports to the El Paso community.

Minor League Baseball and the Pacific Coast League approved MountainStar's acquisition of Tucson Padres in October 2012.

El Paso citizens approved $500 million in "Quality of Life" bonds, including the building of a state-of-the-art baseball stadium nestled in the heart of downtown to be completed for the 2014 season.

The a state-of-the-art ballpark is being designed by Populous, which also designed Major League stadiums like PETCO Park, home of the San Diego Padres and Yankee Stadium.

MountainStar Sports, alongside city leaders, are hoping to revitalize downtown and promote growth by bringing new development and create a central hub of national and international commerce.

ABOUT THE BALLPARK

  • $74 million State-of-the-Art Facility
  • Located in the center of downtown
  • 23 Luxury Suites, including Party Suites
  • Two event buildings
  • Exclusive Club Seating
  • State of the art LED & HD Video Board
  • Fixed seats and lawn seating
  • Kids' Zone

El Paso is one of only 30 Triple-A cities in the nation, and only the second in Texas to have a Triple-A team. Round Rock, near Austin, is home to the Express. El Paso has hired Populous, a world renowned sports architectural firm, to design the downtown ballpark.

As El Paso works to revitalize its downtown into a vibrant locale where people will want to live, work, shop and play, the overall vision is to introduce a ballpark that serves as a downtown landmark. It will naturally promote opportunity for future growth of surrounding mixed-use tenants, while creating a sense of place for downtown El Paso.
